January Book Study: In Search of April Raintree
by Beatrice Mosionier
In response to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and in anticipation of the
Ecumenical Justice Conference: Who is my Neighbour? that is
happening in April, we invite you to join in the study of another
book by an indigenous author. It is the story of two young sisters
taken from home and family and put in separate foster homes.
As they each make their way in a society that is, at times,
indifferent, hostile, and violent, one embraces her Metis identity,
while the other tries to leave it behind. In the end, out of tragedy
comes an unexpected legacy of triumph and reclamation.
